Ghana launches first nationwide HPV vaccination campaign

Ghana has introduced the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine nationwide as part of efforts to prevent cervical cancer among women by vaccinating girls aged 9-14 years, aiming to reach 2.4 million girls aged 9 to 14 years, both in and out of school. Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in Ghana, with an estimated 3,000 new cases and 1,800 deaths each year according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
